eClinicalWorks™, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Stamford Hospital, serving Connecticut's lower Fairfield County and a major teaching affiliate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, has selected eClinicalWorks's unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution for its employed and affiliated physicians. In addition to the EMR/PM system, Stamford will use eClinicalWorks's Patient Portal, Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX), Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO) and eClinicalMobile — all designed to extend the use of electronic health records beyond the practice’s walls to improve communication and access to real-time information.

Physician's Trust, an electronic medical records (EMR) workflow consulting firm for physician offices, announced today it has signed an agreement with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian to be an approved eClinicalWorks vendor. As part of this agreement Physician’s Trust will transition physicians affiliated with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian that select eClinicalWorks to the ECW's unified electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) software. The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT®) today announced that eClinicalWorks's product eClinicalWorks EMR Version 8.0 is a CCHIT Certified® 08 Ambulatory EHR, additionally certified for Child Health Production, and meets the Certification Commission’s electronic health record (EHR) criteria for office-based use. Ambulatory EHRs are designed for physician offices and clinics where most Americans get their healthcare. The Commission — a private, nonprofit organization — is the Recognized Certification Body in the United States for certifying health information technology products.

Notice: Printing Tamper-Resistant Prescriptions

As of April 1, 2008, all printed Medicaid prescriptions must be printed on tamper-resistant paper. The eClinicalWorks application can accommodate printing to tamper-resistant prescription paper as required. eCW currently supports printing to different printers and the application can be configured by practices to prompt the prescriber to choose the appropriate printer that contains the special tamper-resistant paper (or allows time for paper to be changed in a single printer in use by the practice).
